Picabulary (“we”, “us”, “our”) helps you learn vocabulary from everyday photos. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices when you use the Picabulary app and related services (the “Service”).
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Account & identity: sign-in identity from Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In (such as user ID, name, and email if provided), and authentication tokens needed to keep you signed in.
Learning preferences & progress: native language, target learning language(s), saved vocabulary, translations, examples, pronunciation-related data, learning status, topic progress, daily missions, streaks, quiz/review activity, and scan usage counts related to free limits and rewarded ads.
Photos & user content: photos you capture or select, sticker crops and recognition results generated from those photos, and topic ideas or prompts you submit when generating custom topics.
Device & technical data: device type, OS version, app version, diagnostics/logs needed to operate and fix the Service, and network requests related to API calls.
Advertising data: ad interaction events (request, view, completion) via our advertising partner, Yandex Advertising Network. Device advertising identifiers (such as IDFA) are used only where permitted by platform rules and your consent settings, including Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
We do not ask for payment card details in the current version (no in-app purchases).
We use this information to provide core features (photo vocabulary extraction, stickers, cards, text-to-speech, library, topics, quizzes, review); authenticate users and secure accounts; personalize learning; enforce free usage limits and show rewarded ads where applicable; improve reliability and performance; send important service notices; and comply with law or protect against abuse.
We do not sell your personal information.
When you submit a photo, the image is sent to our backend to extract vocabulary and create learning materials. We may create sticker crops and store them so cards can display correctly. Extracted words and related learning data may be saved to your account or library.
Photos are used to power learning features inside Picabulary. Please do not submit photos containing sensitive personal data of others, illegal content, or content you do not have rights to use.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We configure them to support Picabulary functionality and do not sell personal data to them.
Picabulary may request Camera (to capture photos), Photo Library (to select photos), Notifications (learning reminders, if enabled), and App Tracking Transparency permission on iOS. Tracking is used only to deliver ads after you grant permission. You can deny or revoke permissions in system settings.
Account and learning data are kept while your account remains active. Photos and derived stickers are retained as needed to provide your library/cards and operate the Service. Logs may be kept for a limited period for security and debugging. If you request account deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain it for legal, security, or dispute reasons.
We share data only with service providers who help us run Picabulary; if required by law; to protect rights, safety, and security; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer.
Your data may be processed on servers outside your country.
Picabulary is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age.
We use reasonable security measures (encryption in transit, access controls, authenticated API access). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your data. California residents: we do not sell personal information. To exercise rights, contact us at the email below.
Picabulary may show rewarded ads after free usage limits. Yandex Advertising Network may collect device and interaction data to deliver ads. Where Apple requires App Tracking Transparency, we request permission before tracking across apps or websites owned by other companies. If you decline tracking, ads can still be shown without using your advertising identifier for cross-app tracking.
